Volunteers work on projects at one of the three sites from approximately
8 AM - 4 PM with a break in the morning and a long lunch from 12-2. We try to vary the work, but volunteers
should be prepared for manual labor. The majority of the work is surrounding removing invasive plants and reintroducing native plants.
This requires the use of machettes as well as carrying water and plants. Volunteers should be prepared for heavy lifting. No prior experience
is required. When working at farther
locations, volunteers are transported by horse back or via taxi depending on the
group size.
After
work, volunteers are free to
enjoy exploring one of the many trails around the Hacienda, relax on one of the
hammocks, chatting with the other volunteers and locals, playing a pickup game of
soccer or volleyball, sight-seeing at the port or using the
internet. Dinner is typically served around 7 PM.
